Convegno Bio Vallo

BioVallo, Business ideas and project developments for the upgrading and reuse of the quarries in Vallo di Diano, was created and realized in 2008 following the adjudication of the call for bids “Sustainable Development in the Tourism-Cultural Chain” in 2006. The project proposes a new vision of the Quarries, from landscape wounds to development catalysts. It is a prototype for the redevelopment of the inland areas of the country, starting from Vallo di Diano in the Salerno area. The result of a detailed cartographic and photographic census of the approximately 70 abandoned, disused, abusive or still operating quarries located in the 15 municipalities belonging to the Vallo di Diano Mountain Community, it allows to launch a strategic plan aimed at creating a new green economy.  The project  develops for the first time the upgradign opportunities offered by the incentives of the Regional Plan of Mining Activities in order to favor not only the landscape recovery but also the opportunity for economic, social and entrepreneurial redemption of a territory with many unexpressed potentialities.

Gran Tour Sud is Planning, Infrastructures, Environment, Energy, Landscape Architecture, Urban Redevelopment, Enhancement of Cultural Heritage, Public Buildings and Spaces, Tourism Equipment. The multimedia exhibition and the website, conceived as part of FareTurismo 2006, document over 200 plans and projects under development and implementation in Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Apulia, Sardinia and Sicily. The concept of the exhibition recalls the “Grand Tour”, a term that was used for the first time in 1636 to indicate the cultural journey that had as its destination the main cities and the historical-artistic masterpieces of our country. The idea of this Italy of great centers of art, archeology and history is still found in the imagination of many foreigners and that modern tour operators tend to re-propose.
If the intellectual journey of a few hundred young gentlemen of the European aristocracy was once limited above all by the difficulties of movement, today, thanks to the modern system of infrastructures and services, tourism in all its meanings has become more democratic and at the same time a fundamental voice for the economy of our country. The Plans and projects of the Exhibition therefore represent innovative solutions that can help to enhance and qualify the tourist offer and at the same time extend the historic “Grand Tour” to all of Italy.
